Give the gift of life to bishop Serge Kubata

Sergey Kubata

Sergey Kubata, Senior Pastor, 1-st Missioner in Tyumen Region, Surgut City, Tyumen Region, Siberia, Russia

By Benjamin Komisarenko, Jacksonville, Florida, USA

Sergey was born on October 19, 1959 in South part of Ukraine, in Donetsk region, Kramatorsk City.

He grew up in a Baptist family. His grandfather was Missioner too and he founded Baptist Church in Kramatorsk more than 100 years ago. Now this church is about 1000 members.

Sergey accepted Christ just after he finished High School in 1975 and got baptized in 1977. After army service he found his love Evgeniya (Janny) in same church where he grew up. They got married in September 1985 and since then they got 3 sons: Roman, Vitaliy, Dmitriy.

Sergey heard God's call for ministry and after Graduation from University in 1989, he decided to go for Mission to Siberia. This time Soviet Union was going to crash. Mike Gorbachev gave freedom for religion, therefore it was safe to do mission ministry. Sergey heard from his friend that in Surgut, Siberia is no any Christian Church at all, but there is 300,000 people population. This city was the oil capital of Soviet Union. Therefore after long time praying he decide to go to this city and start Church.

When he visited city, researched everything necessary, Sergey went to Mission Organization “Light of The Gospel” and took classes to study how to work with movie “Jesus” made by New Life. This was the first tool of mission in Siberia. This was the mission start in that part of Russia. Before Sergey go there, in Tyumen region was available only 2 small Baptist churches. Only few Orthodox and no more others.

Now, because of Sergey's work there is about 73 Baptist churches and groups were organized. And a lot of others protestant churches was split from Baptists – Pentecostal, Charismatic, Lutherans and more. Sergey was inviting his friends and friends of friends to this part of Russia to do mission. Some of this people stay and help Sergey till now, some helped to grow new leaders and moved back from Siberia to Ukraine or to USA.

Sergey decided to stay there because he saw that people need him. Now he is Senior Pastor for all big area with size like 3 France countries.

Everything would be great, but Sergey’s health was destroyed by Siberian weather. Long trips between cities, between churches and groups. Baptisms in cold water and freezing weather. Getting cold very often. All this things made terrible situation with Sergey's kidney. The kidney almost stopped working. They becoming smaller and smaller. Doctor say that he must do kidney transplant to stay alive.

One of the Doctors in Surgut Regional Hospital told, that in this situation with kidney Sergey can die in 6 months if he will do nothing. Doctors Council recommended to have consultation with transplant doctor about doing kidney transplant to safe Sergey's life. But transplant doctors and clinics available only in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Consultations and transplant there cost a lot of money. Also my concern is about transplant organs market in Russia. There is everything corrupted and a lot of illegal issues with donor organs. In this situation the best we can do - help Sergey to come to USA and do the kidney transplant here in USA.

Sergey says, he is ready to die, if it is God's will, but I believe that in this touch God giving to us the lesson of Good Samaritans and we can help Sergey to stay alive. I used to work with Sergey in Surgut for 10 years and know exactly how good this man is. He always was helping others and everybody who meet him was lucky. Because he was God's blessings to people around him. He was bringing Christ alive to people's hearts. I believe that Sergey can serve more for God and for people and also for his family. That's why I want to help him! Maybe I talk too high about a man, but I know how much he helped me and many of the people around me, therefore I feel free to say like that. I love this Brother. Let's help him.
