Ayatollah Vahid Khorosani criticized Christian Evangelism in the country and said: "People have become Christians and Shiite youths are being misled by Christianity and officials are looking after their own power," reports Mohabat NEWS. Iranian Christian News Agency "Mohabat News" reports that according to the government related news website "Ayandeh": Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani on Wednesday march 9, 2011 during his religious class for students in Islamic seminary of Qom said: "there is no one to tell to the government officials that what does this misled and distracted Christian Evangelism is doing even in Qom?"(Qom is a religious city 140 km south of Tehran and residence of many Grand Ayatollahs in the country) He added: "The Christian deviated teachings are being diverted to our nation, if the authorities even assume that something is going to shake their power they will confront it with full force, but they do nothing against these evangelists who are misleading our Shiite youth population". The supreme leader of the Islamic republic (Ayatollah Ali Khamenei) also warned against the growth of homes churches in Iran during his last October during visit to Qom, he called them the enemies of Islam and said: " the enemies are working hard to promote Sufism , Baha'ism and Christianity in Iran. Supreme Leader's remarks were a green light to arrest Iranian Christians especially new Christian converts with Muslim background. The governor of Tehran Province also called Christian Evangelists "the radicals who want to corrupt and divert the body of Islam". Christians in Iran have faced a great and organized wave of arrests since last Christmas which had led to the imprisonment of 200 believers in Iran, 20 of them have had no progress in their cases and are in an uncertain situation inside detention centers.
